Chemical Injection Molders & Molds
Aluminum Descaler Application Instructions:
1. Bypass Injection Molders or Molds from operation.
2. Remove the existing water in the Molds. This must be done to ensure proper results.
3. Disconnect the water in/out connections from the molds.
4. Attach the necessary hoses to the water in/out connections on the molds to a circulation pump and a circulating tank. (See drawing below for cleaning set up.)
5. Fill circulating tank with fresh water and circulate through Molds for 10-15 to detect any possible leaks. If leaks are present, fix leaks before circulating Aluminum Descaler.
6. Circulate Aluminum Descaler for 20 minutes, then turn the circulating pump off and let the Aluminum Descaler sit for another 20 minutes. Repeat this process for the recommended amount of time depending on the volume of your system.
7. After the first 20 minutes of circulating time, check the pH of the Aluminum Descaler with a pH meter or pH strips. Before use, Aluminum Descaler has a pH between 0 and 1. If the pH rises to around 3 or 3.5 after the first 20 minutes, add more Aluminum Descaler to lower the pH to around 1. Continue this process through the duration of the circulating time shown on the chart below. When the pH of the Aluminum Descaler stays the same, there should no more scale so the molds should be cleaned.
8. Pump or move the remaining Aluminum Descaler into another container. If the Aluminum Descaler still has a pH around 1-3, use the Aluminum Descaler for another cleaning.
9. After removing Aluminum Descaler from the molds, flush with water to remove all debris and remaining Aluminum Descaler. If you want to completely neutralize the molds, add sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) to the water while circulating. Add a ratio of ½ pound of sodium bicarbonate to 25 gallons of water.
10. Once you have neutralized the Molds, disconnect the hoses from the circulating pump and circulating tank. Re-connect the water inlet and outlet to the Injection Molders and Molds.what type of heat exchanger you have.
